Site Foreman - Softscape

Scope of role
This is a crucial role for our business in ensuring the successful execution and delivery of our commercial softscape landscaping projects. These include all areas of softscaping and the living elements of our projects such as plant layout and design, plant health and horticulture knowledge, weed management, mowing and trimming. You will have responsibility for leading and motivating the team as well as accountability that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on role that encompasses leadership and supervision of staff, quality control, site safety and compliance, and operating machinery and equipment where required. You will be reporting into the Commercial Manager and working alongside our project managers, site team leaders, site teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and co-ordinating the team as well as subcontractors and labourers
- Co-ordinating delivery receipts of materials from each job site
- Hands on leadership and supervision working alongside the team
- Maintaining a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all landscaping work meets or exceeds company quality standards
- Conducting regular inspections and quality checks and addressing any issues promptly
- Complying with VSL Landscapes’ Health and Safety Policy and legislative requirements
- Attending Health & Safety meetings and running daily PreStarts on all sites with your team members

Project Manager - Landscape

Scope of role
This role is a key asset within the business and is part of our continued growth strategy. It will have responsibility for the successful co-ordination and execution of our landscaping projects. You will be reporting into the Commercial Manager and working alongside our General Manager, Project Managers, Site Foreman, external clients, suppliers, and contractors.
The role includes management of subcontractors, on-site teams, interfacing with clients, project planning and delivery, H&S, and staff management. The overall objective is the delivery of high-quality landscaping projects, completed efficiently, while maximising financial returns and business growth.
This role also has responsibility for ensuring that all maintenance to contracted projects is completed on schedule; requiring the daily co-ordination of maintenance staff, setting and reviewing project maintenance schedules, and reviewing reports to ensure maintenance standards are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
- High quality project management and delivery with exceptional customer satisfaction
- Planning and execution of landscaping projects ensuring financial returns
- Responsibility for sub-contractor programming and scheduling and communicating with the client
- Procurement responsibility and RFI (Requests for Information) accountability related to each project
- Contract management of projects in accordance with NZ3910
- Financial management of projects and maintaining control of expenditures and purchasing decisions
- Managing all contract requirements related to the on-going maintenance post project completion
- Managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring relevant and regular communications to all parties
- Compliance with H&S policies and related legislative requirements
- Continuous improvement of processes, identifying inefficiencies and alignment with best practices
- Attending regular meetings with the team and reporting to management

Maintenance Landscaper

Scope of role
This is an important role for our business ensuring that we enhance our client experience through providing high standards of landscaping maintenance at our completed commercial projects across the Auckland region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work in a maintenance landscaping team and complete labour tasks under a Site Foreman or Project Manager as required
- General landscaping; including soft and some hardscaping. Planting including trees and staking, garden maintenance, trimming, mulch placement, weed control and plant health management
- Work to maintenance schedules, contracts and standards as required
- Maintain a healthy and safe working site and high standards of H&S compliance
- Keep the work site, yard space and equipment organised and tidy
- Wear provided PPE gear and represent the business professionally when onsite

Hammer Hand/Landscape Carpenter

Scope of role
This is a hands-on role that will utilise your expertise and passion for creating hardscaping projects. Your role will also encompass quality control, site safety and compliance, and operating machinery and equipment where required. You will be reporting into Commercial Manager and work alongside our project managers, site team leaders, site teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building decks, fences, retaining walls, concrete works and softscape
- Reading and constructing to architectural drawings
- Co-ordinating delivery receipts of materials from each job site
- Maintaining a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all hardscaping work meets or exceeds company quality standards
- Conducting regular inspections and quality checks and addressing any issues promptly
- Complying with VSL Landscapes’ Health and Safety Policy and legislative requirements
- Attending Health & Safety meetings and daily PreStarts on all sites with your team members
