A well earned reputation for accountability and delivering on commitments.

VSL Landscapes is acutely aware that when our clients charge us with bringing a vision to life today, they are also entrusting us to share their responsibility towards creating a greener, more sustainable tomorrow.

Engagement with our customers is not some abstract concept; it is a sincere and heart-felt commitment to focus 100% on our undertakings and obligations. Ensuring that we deliver on our promises and commitments to service, quality and budget goes beyond pride with us – it is the very touchstone on which we base our tradition. Call us old-fashioned if you like, we call ourselves genuine.

Every project gets a front seat.

We are a company founded in the belief that behind every project should be a ‘people-first’ attitude. What is important to you is important to us. It’s as simple as that. And it’s because VSL Landscapes truly gets that each project has its own unique demands, that we’ve put together a tightly bonded network of teams, whose skill sets work in cohesion to implement an inclusive and collaborative strategy from the very get go.

We have the industry qualifications, experience, and technical know-how to integrate natural cycles and systems into environments across all scales. We’ve dealt with everything; from individual urban parks right up to helping implement wide-ranging regional ecological plans. Nothing is left to chance, everything we do is meticulously planned, debated, and then put into play, a result of the tight-knit cooperation between our designers, project management frameworks, and dynamically versatile landscaping teams led by experienced onsite foremen. What’s more, our owner-led consultation service, with almost two decades of hands-on experience to call upon, will guarantee that your project gets exactly what it needs for the best outcome within budget.

That small window between completion of construction and client handover is where we work our magic. It is the space where an awful lot of work goes on behind the scenes to make sure there is no room for disappointment. VSL Landscapes may often be the last subcontractor on the site – but we create the first impression.

When your needs change, we listen.

The circumstances around any given project can change quickly. At VSL Landscapes, we understand that and always remain flexible and ready to adapt to our client’s changing needs. We listen to our clients, and work with them to ensure that the design concept remains intact throughout the project delivery process. When plans change, our well-established teams have a raft of experience and know-how to draw from to help our clients forge a way forward and find a successful project outcome that boasts optimal results.

A Hallmark of Quality.

Quality demands integrity. For us, that means maintaining rigorous high standards in absolutely everything we do, no matter how big or small the project. We are all about quality in the work we perform, quality in the service we provide our customers, quality in the outcomes we achieve for our clients.

Our company was founded on the belief that a skilled, cohesive and honest team will deliver quality outcomes on any project, and that is an ethos that has stood us in excellent stead over the years. We have invested much of what we are as an organisation into developing our staff into a professional, creative team who are totally dedicated to satisfying our clients’ visions and needs. We remain justifiably proud of what we have achieved.

You’re in good company.

VSL Landscapes have been engaged on The Botanic in Silverdale to complete both the soft landscaping package of works and the ongoing maintenance. VSL have been with us throughout the Covid 19 challenges, a flood and have worked with us while we continue to develop the Botanic in stages that will run on for the next 5 years approximately. The end result of all this work is spectacular. I have no hesitation in acting as their referee.

Auckland Zoo engaged VSL Landscapes to undertake an upgrade to one of our play areas, incorporating nature play style features. VSL and their subcontractors had great communication, given our tricky environment they understood the need for the protocols we have in place and so were in constant communication throughout construction. VSL were also flexible with last minute design changes and open about the implications that might have on programme or cost. The final result is exactly what we had envisioned and is well loved by our visitors.

VSL have been engaged by Fulton Hogan Ltd to undertake the landscaping soft works on SH20B early improvements project from July 2020.  The landscaping elements on this project were delivered to a high standard by VSL and the ongoing maintenance has been managed effectively to ensure the high standards have continued through this period of the project.  All VSL staff, management and nominated subcontractors have provided clear communication with a high level of job knowledge and professionalism. I would happily recommend them for similar projects.

VSL Landscapes has truly brought our design vision to life. Throughout our entire collaboration with them, they have shown outstanding teamwork, guiding the project smoothly from its inception to the flawless execution of a high-quality hard and soft landscape project for our client. As we prepare to nominate this project for a landscaping excellence award, Boffa Miskell proudly supports VSL and their subcontractors for their exceptional work on the Highbury Triangle project in Avondale.

Their exceptional performance on this intricate and multifaceted project leaves me with full confidence in recommending them for future large-scale and complex endeavours.

“We worked with VSL Landscape Construction on a Pedestrian Boardwalk Construction in Pakuranga, East Auckland. Andrew was very easy to deal with and provided some alternative options as part of the quote. During the works, VSL were flexible to suit our changing program requirements, and they went the extra mile for the finished product. From my experience VSL take a genuine pride in the outcome and I’d definitely work with them again.”

VSL Landscapes are our “go-to” Landscape planting and maintenance subcontractor. We’ve completed several projects with VSL, most recently the $30m GI2TD Shared Path for Waka Kotahi of which they undertook over 3.5 Hectares of new native planting spread along 2.5km site, they are also carrying out the 5-year maintenance across the site. GI2TD is a difficult to access project, with challenging terrain and was adjacent to very dense weed and exotic species. Programme constraints meant planting was largely completed out-of-season, VSL delivered the works on a tight timeframe while ensuring plant survival and quality product was opened to the public on time. VSL’s management and site teams have handled the challenges with professionalism and care. They are well organised, easy to communicate with communicate and their technical expertise helped our client with alternative designs, ultimately delivering on their promise as a best-in-class landscaping contractor.

I found the comms from the Director and the landscape team from tender to project completion to be clear in all my dealings with the team and all members during the project were easy to deal with plus showed flexibility to work around the head contractors programme of earthworks. The site foreman drove the team to some respectable daily plant install numbers while maintaining a close eye on the quality – during my walks over the day’s work the plants were typically well healed in the ground offing them the best possible start and this was maintained throughout the various gardens and wetland areas. All in all, a pleasant hard-working team that deliver on the promise of a quality job.

VSL have been involved in the full Landscaping scope on the Glen Innes to Tamaki Drive project working with Oxcon.CLL. They have successfully completed the planting works, amidst challenging terrain and access restrictions to complete the work in time for our project opening. VSL responded well to our onsite requirements for both safety and quality and this was reflected in the final outcomes onsite. The VSL management team co-ordinated well with our team onsite to work together towards our project opening goal. The VSL team is now into full maintenance mode on the project and the planting is responding well to the teams efforts onsite, with positive feedback received from members of the public during every visit to the Pathway since opening.
